Northumberland Community Enterprise Ltd

Employment Support at Northumberland Community Enterprise LtdNCEL was set up in 2008 as a Social Enterprise with the aim of providing opportunity for disadvantaged people. NCEL intends to tackle worklessness, digital exclusion and social isolation throughout Stobhill and the surrounding area. We work closely with residents from the local area in an effort to create a stronger sense of community spirit and to improved the physical and economical conditions of life in Stobhill.

The aim of the organisation is to improve the quality of life of those in our local community, particularly targeting those disadvantaged, the elderly and disabled. NCEL works with a wide and varied age range as we provide services and activities to facilitate individual development and community integration.

Since the early days, NCEL has introduced a variety of initiatives, which have given many disadvantaged people the opportunity to improve their social welfare, and for those who wish to, the opportunity to develop their skills and training in order for them to enhance their abilities and employment prospects.

We aim to ensure that members of the community are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively apply for, prepare for and become successful in finding work.

NCEL operates from the Stobhill Community Link office based on Shields Road in Stobhill, Morpeth. We are situated on a direct bus route leading into Morpeth Town Centre. NCEL offers a friendly atmosphere and has a realistic approach towards job search and training.

Our Services

Employability Services - We have a number of computers with internet access and these are available for members of the public to use free of charge. The internet allows service users access more job vacancies and staff are on hand to assist learners with developing the tools and skills needed to effectively job search. We help with creating and updating CV’s and covering letters, setting up e-mail, interview techniques and job applications.

Bedlington Community Allotment - Our Allotment has disabled access with hard standing ground, 13 raised beds and a large poly tunnel. The site welcomes all members of the public and we currently have a number of schools, nursing homes and day centres regularly visiting the site. We provide educational and recreational activities, giving users the opportunity to plant, grow and harvest their own fruit and veg, plants and flowers.

Volunteering NCEL provides many volunteer opportunities which can range from admin and clerical work to fundraising and gardening.

Volunteer work can lead to employment opportunities, provide an individual with recent work history as well as a reference.

Morpeth Community Allotment - Our NEW Community Allotment is situated at Middle Green in Morpeth. This is a large site and we began work this summer; clearing and preparing for next season. The allotment will be open to all members of the public and will provide volunteering opportunities and work experience placements.

Community Works -  Operating from Stobhill Community Link, this organisation offers services to the local community which include a handyman and a seasonal gardening service.

Office Services - NCEL offer printing, copying and laminating services.
